Blank Steps to Real Estate Success
- Be Honest- you’ll snore louder at night because there won’t be anything weighing you down.
- Have a business plan- this will keep you on track and on course with what you are supposed to be doing. It’s not easy to come up with and takes some time but a well thought out plan of why you are in business and what your goals are will keep you on course and will allow you to better serve your clients.
- Have a marketing plan- you’ve got a listing….now what? Remember that there is a difference between marketing and advertising. You never know where, when and how that golden client of yours will find you.
- Protect the commission at all costs- remember that true real estate agents are professionals and that we shouldn’t reduce our commission just because someone asks or just to get the listing and eventual sale. Whenever someone asks about reduced commissions I usually ask them which services they would like cut out to accommodate the request. Just remember how time, effort and energy you spend away from your family to conduct transactions the next time someone asks for a discount, and of course give it if you feel that way about your services.
- Question everything- ask a lot of questions to everybody. Ask your buyers, sellers, fellow agents anything you are curious about. This is the best way to build lasting relationships with people and will help you serve your clients better.
- You are to blame- good or bad, right or wrong…..as the agent you will always be to blame. Just keep this in mind at all times so that when (and it will) it comes up you are prepared to handle it, but it’s always tough.
- Act like a doctor- you are there to diagnose a problem and correct, bottom line.
- “I’d rather turn you down than let you down”- nuff said
